Notebook: N.C. Central’s Tracy on all-state team

N.C. Central second baseman Jenny Tracy was named to the University All-State softball team, announced Wednesday by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA). Tracy was named to the first team.

Tracy, who is in consideration for the NCAA Woman of the Year award after being selected as both N.C. Central’s and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s nominee, garnered first-team all-state laurels by the NCCSIA after an outstanding senior season.

This season, Tracy batted .307 with 42 hits, 13 runs scored, 18 RBIs, seven doubles and a team-best five home runs.

All-State esteem is just the latest honor presented to Tracy also over the past few month. She’s already the NCCU and MEAC honoree for NCAA Woman of the Year, and was named CoSIDA Academic All-America first team for 2016. Tracy was the NCCU softball team player’s choice award winner, MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team (x3) and NCCU Chancellor’s Award (x2) honoree to go along with an excess number of academic achievements.
