Doeren to appear at Raleigh Sports Club

The RSC will continue its tradition of honoring top Wake County student-athletes on Wednesday.

Leesville Road High School’s Nevada Moreno will be honored during its first meeting of the new season when N.C. State football coach, Dave Doeren will headline the “RSC’ ACC College Football Pigskin Preview.”

Moreno is a reigning 4-A state champion in three track and field events. She also runs cross country for Leesville Road. She has a 5.04 weighted GPA.

Meetings are held in Bradley Hall in Highland UMC, 1901 Ridge Road at the intersection of Lake Boone Trail, just inside the Raleigh Beltline. Doors open at 10:50 a.m. Buffet lines open at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting is noon until 1 p.m. Attendance fee is $15 for members and $25 for guests. Checks and cash accepted. Door prizes and pick sheets will be available.

Women’s Soccer

Elon: Junior forward Grace Bennett got the the team on the board early, but four unanswered goals from Appalachian State led the Mountaineers to a 4-1 victory in a preseason match on Saturday at Appalachian Soccer Stadium.
