SAS golf adds Faldo, Montgomerie
The SAS Championship has enhanced its field for the Champions Tour event, announcing Wednesday that Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie – both World Golf Hall of Fame members – have committed to play.
Faldo, the lead golf analyst for CBS Sports, won three Masters titles and three British Open championships during his career. He made his SAS Championship debut last year at Cary’s Prestonwood Country Club but was forced to withdraw.
Montgomerie did not win a major title while competing on the PGA Tour or European Tour but collected 41 professional victories. He has won two major championships on the Champions Tour this year – the U.S. Senior Open and Senior PGA Championship.
Others set to compete in the SAS Championship, scheduled for Oct. 6-12 at Prestonwood, include former SAS champion Bernard Langer, who leads the tour’s Charles Schwab Cup points list, and Kenny Perry.
