Rex Hospital Open sponsorship extended

UNC Rex Healthcare has reached a new agreement with the PGA Tour to remain the title sponsor of the Rex Hospital Open for another five years.

The Rex Hospital Open, a tournament on the Web.com Tour, will return to TPC Wakefield Plantation May 29- June 4, 2017.

The 2017 Rex Hospital Open will mark the 30th year of Rex hosting a professional golf tournament for charity. UNC Rex Healthcare also recently extended its agreement with McConnell Golf of Raleigh to keep TPC Wakefield Plantation as the event’s host site.

“We are excited to remain the title sponsor for the Rex Hospital Open, and continue our partnership with the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour,” Steve Burriss, president of UNC Rex Healthcare, said in a statement. “The Rex Hospital Open is an important way we give back to the community, and support care and services for local patients and their families.”

The co-chairmen for next year’s Rex Hospital Open are G. Smedes York, former mayor of Raleigh and chairman of York Properties, and George York, the firm’s president and CEO.
