Fountain wins eGolf Gateway event with 72
Richard Fountain picked up his first career eGolf Gateway Tour victory Friday, using a final-round 72 for a two-shot win in the Spring Creek Classic in Gordonsville, Va.
Fountain, a Raleigh native who played at Broughton High and collegiately at Davidson, earned $12,000.
Fountain, who lives in Charlotte, opened the tournament with rounds of 64 and 67, then struggled early in the final round at Spring Creek Golf Club to finish at 13-under 203.
Bo Andrews of Raleigh finished second at 205 after a final-round 63. Grayson Murray of Raleigh and Ryan Sullivan of Winston-Salem tied for third at 206.
