North Johnston moves to 3-1 with win over Princeton football

North Johnston defeated old Johnston County rival Princeton 48-20 on Friday night to improve the Panthers to 3-1 on the season.

North Johnston's Trey Whitley (4) ran for two touchdowns and 113 yards on two carries and completed 8 of 18 passes for 245 yards with three touchdowns (to three different receivers: Treshaun McPhatter, Gavin Suttles and Jordan Aycock) and one interception.

North Johnston will host Smithfield-Selma, one of two nonconference games (the other at South Johnston) left before the Panthers’ bye week.

Princeton (1-3) has a road game at Union High (7 p.m.) in southern Sampson County on Friday, its last test before Carolina 1A Conference play.
