N&O boys, girls basketball rankings: Big shakeup in the top 25
There were big changes to The News & Observer’s 17-county area top 25 girls basketball rankings. Blame Apex and Panther Creek.
Unranked Panther Creek knocked off Northwood and Green Hope in back-to-back games. Unranked Apex did the same to Green Hope and Leesville Road.
Panther Creek jumps into this week’s rankings at No. 16, and Apex comes in at No. 18, while Green Hope, Leesville Road and Northwood all fell out of the top 10.
Undefeated Neuse Christian, Hunt and Orange made big moves up the top 25. Cary, Panther Creek, Apex and Warren County replaced East Wake, Wakefield, C.B. Aycock and Rocky Mount.
The only change on the boys’ side was Northern Nash jumping into the rankings and replacing Orange.
