Rocky Mount eases by Eastern Alamance in girls soccer playoffs

The Rocky Mount Gryphons defeated the visiting Eastern Alamance Eagles 4-1 in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A girls soccer playoffs on Tuesday.

Rocky Mount (15-4-1) was up 3-0 at halftime over the Eagles (8-10-1).

Sarah Bland had two goals and freshmen Tatum Janke and Carson Browder scored the other two.

Next for No. 6 overall seed Rocky Mount is a second-round game at home against Southern Lee. The game will be either Friday or Saturday. No. 12 Southern Lee (15-5-1) is coming off a 3-0 win against Gray’s Creek.
