Here are the top plays from the NCCA East-West All-Star soccer games

The East is even with the West after the N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star soccer games at the Macpherson Stadium at the Bryan Soccer Complex on Tuesday.

The East girls won 4-0, while the boys won 2-1.

After the West swept both basketball games on Monday, Wednesday’s football game will decide which half of the state will claim the most NCCA All-Star titles this year.

Girls soccer: All four East goals came in the first half of the girls’ game.

Clayton’s Emery Biggs, who was named MVP of the match for her several scoring chances, opened up the scoring in the 14th minute as she headed in a rebound from point-blank range.

The East went up 2-0 in the 25th after a dazzling run and 25-yard laser strike from Terry Sanford’s Talia Parrous.

In the 28th, Havelock’s Mackenzie Pruitt hammered in her own rebound after she hit the left post, making it 3-0.

Green Hope’s Catherine Holbrook rounded out the scoring after the ball fell to her in the 36th minute, as a corner kick led to a scrum in the box.

Boys soccer: Hoggard’s Cesar Cruz won MVP honors after scoring both of the East’s goals. His first-half goal came in the 15th minute when he slotted in a 15-yard goal after a through ball from Lee County’s Jose Aguirre.

The game-winner came in the 61st minute when Cruz scored on his own rebound after the first shot was saved.

After trailing 1-0, the West’s lone goal came in the 48th minute as Newton-Conover’s Francisco Tapia scored on a penalty kick following a tackle of Statesville’s Antonio Pineda in the box.

The West had a chance to tie it with less than five minutes left, but Enloe’s Emir Sevin made a quick, leaping save on a point-blank header from Matthew Kennedy of A.C. Reynolds High (in Asheville).
