St. Thomas More Academy’s Brinna Mulligan is News & Observer athlete of the week

St. Thomas More Academy basketball player Brinna Mulligan is the News & Observer high school athlete of the week.

After more than 122,000 votes were cast Mulligan beat Friendship Christian’s Daniel Amadi in one of the tightest races of the 2021-22 school year, winning by less than 1,000 votes.

Mulligan, a 5-foot-11 senior, nearly averaged a triple-double in two wins over Friendship Christian and Thales Academy Rolesville.

Mulligan had 19 points, nine rebounds and 11 steals in a 48-17 win at Friendship Christian Jan. 11.

She also had 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals in a 61-21 victory at Thales Academy Rolesville Jan. 14.

Mulligan is averaging 16.3 points, eight rebounds and 4.1 steals per game for St. Thomas More Academy.
