Carrboro’s LJ Riggsbee is the News & Observer boys athlete of the week
Carrboro High basketball player LJ Riggsbee is the News & Observer high school athlete of the week.
The 5-foot-10 senior scored 22 points, had four rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 80-31 win over Durham School of Arts in the first round of the Northern Lakes’ Athletic 2A/3A conference tournament Feb. 15.
He also scored 27 points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 62-58, conference semifinal victory over South Granville Feb. 17.
Riggsbee posted 25 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a 76-74, overtime loss to Southern Durham in the conference title game Feb. 18.
Riggsbee is averaging 18.7 points, seven rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game for Carrboro.
