NC high school football NCHSAA rankings: Upsets jumble top teams in state standings
Some mild upsets, and some regional and conference rivalries, took center stage last week, and we saw a shuffle in the rankings, particularly in the state’s largest school classification. We doubt this will be the last time these shuffle around.
Highlights from a wacky Week 3 included East No. 11 Rolesville taking down No. 3 Wake Forest — interesting of course because Rolesville was once part of Wake Forest until about 10 years ago.
Also tumbling was previous 4A No. 1 East Forsyth, paving the way for Grimsley to assume the No. 1 spot in our rankings.
Kings Mountain, though? Still chugging away in the 3A playoffs, along with top teams in 2A and 1A.
