With NC high school football regional finals on deck, who’s No. 1 in the Triangle?

It was a good run for the region again in 2022, but as the playoffs continue to shrink the number of overall teams remaining, so, too, does the number from our region.

Two thrilling matchups in NCHSAA 4A play last weekend involving three area teams whittled our representation down to one: Millbrook, seeded No. 12 in the East region, outlasted No. 1 Hillside of Durham to earn a place in the region final.

No. 2 New Bern took out No. 11 Rolesville in the other region semifinal.
