With state finals on deck, there are five new No. 1 teams in NC basketball polls
With the N.C. High School Athletic Association state championships about to tip off, here are the next-to-last statewide rankings of the season.
The final polls of the season will be released next week after the state finals conclude.
The rankings are sponsored by The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer of Raleigh, and are compiled by longtime N.C. basketball experts Randall Clark and Rick Lewis, co-hosts of The Observer’s streaming Talking Preps show.
There are five newly ranked No. 1 teams in the 18 boys’ and girls’ polls.
West Charlotte (8A) and Vance Charter (1A) are the two boys’ teams to move up to the spot.
On the girls’ side, the new No. 1s are North Meck (8A), Northern Guilford (6A) and Wilson Prep (1A)
