Four new No. 1 teams, 14 newcomers shake up NC statewide baseball polls

There are some big changes in this week’s N.C. statewide high school baseball polls.

Those changes include 14 new teams in the nine polls. There are also four new No. 1 teams.

In the 1A poll, Chatham Charter jumped three spots to No. 1. In 3A, North Stanly moved up one spot from second. In 8A, West Forsyth jumped from No. 4 to No. 1. In private school rankings, Charlotte Christian — which moved to the top of The Charlotte Observer’s Sweet 16 poll this week — moved up one spot to the top.

The rankings are compiled by longtime N.C. baseball expert Tripp Roakes.
