Triangle football first: Garner, Cleveland to clash on live TV
Two of the area’s most successful high school football programs this decade will face off in a historic broadcast Thursday night when Garner visits Cleveland. The game will be the first regular-season Triangle football game shown on live television.
The game will be the second Thursday prep matchup broadcast by Time Warner Cable under a new agreement between the N.C. High School Athletic Association and TWC.
The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. on Time Warner Cable Channel 323 or online at twcsportschannel.com/nc/easternnc, and features two of The N&O’s top-10 ranked teams, both coming off of impressive opening week wins. It will be on radio on WCMC 99.9.
The last time Garner (ranked No. 2 in The N&O poll) and Cleveland (ranked 9th) met at the Rams’ home stadium, they played one of the best games of the 2013 season, when the Rams rallied from a 31-10 halftime deficit for a 45-44 victory.
Garner won last year’s game, 44-21.
