Ravenscroft football tops conference foe Wake Christian
Wake Christian left nothing in the playbook Friday night, but Ravenscroft’s defense stood up to the test in a 56-26 NCISAA football win.
Offensively, the visiting Ravens got a solid performance from sophomore lefty Dylan Harris making his second start to go to 4-3 (1-0 Big East Independent). The Bulldogs are 5-3 (0-2).
Turning point
Ravenscroft seemed to to cruising at halftime, up 35-7, but Wake Christian threatened to make it interesting with two quick touchdowns to open the second half.
But then the Ravens’ D.J. Washington, Donald Fuller, Colby Muldrow and Donathan Muldrow ran the ball the next eight plays with the freshman Donathan Muldrow scoring on a 9-yard run to get momentum back on the Ravens’ side.
Three who mattered
Dylan Harris, Ravenscroft: Threw for 209 yards in the first half, on 8-for-15. Including 2 touchdown passes. He threw for another score in the third quarter.
D.J. Washington, Ravenscroft: Intercepted a pass and scored two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 61 yards.
Adam Jones, Wake Christian: Rushed for 65 yards against at Ravenscroft front the otherwise completely shut down the Bulldogs running game.
By the numbers
38: rushing yards for Wake Christian in the first half, including a 45 yard run by Jones. 7 of the Bulldogs 9 running plays went for negative yards against a defensive front of Will Bird, Sam Landis, Donald Fuller, and Donathan Muldrow.
