N&O scholar-athlete: Brandon Locklear, Wake Forest High

Brandon Locklear, senior, Wake Forest

College choice: N.C. State.

GPA: 4.04.

Athletics: Football.

Favorite course: My favorite course is civics and economics, mostly to learn about the stock market.

World’s biggest problem is: A lack of peace and understanding is the world’s biggest problem.

I was fascinated to learn: I was fascinated to learn about psychology and how the brain works.

Most inspiring teacher: My most inspiring teacher was my English 2 teacher Ms. Pope my sophomore year, because she always made me strive to be the best I could be academically and athletically. Also how hard she works to be the best teacher and parent she can be no matter what challenge she faces; she can always over come it.

A book that impacted my life was: A Child Called It, written by Dave Pelzer, which I read for my AP psychology class. It was about a kid who was abused, which was one of the worst reported cases in California. This book impacted my life because I understand and realize how lucky I am to have parents to support me and that care for me as they do and I am very thankful for that.

It is hard to believe that we used to: It is hard to believe that we use to hunt and gather everyday for survival instead of just opening the pantry.

Who epitomizes what a good American should be: Bill Gates, because he works hard to make something of himself and to improve the lives of people also, because he gives back to people less fortunate in his many charities.

My favorite charity is: Help For Heroes.

Is there life on another planet?: I believe there could be, because in the Bible it doesn’t say we were the only thing created.

Best movie: Rudy.

Whose life inspires you: Herschel Walker’s life inspires me.

Three people (living or dead) that you wish you could meet: George Washington, John Locke, Dan Marino are the top three of many I wish I could meet.

Something that you enjoy that would surprise people: I like to give things to people less fortunate, such as the homeless.

I had been there for: The writing of the Constitution of the United States of America.
