Northern Durham wallops Person in PAC-6 football
Northern Durham’s defense forced six turnovers, including four fumble recoveries, to shut out Person 46-0 in PAC-6 Conference action Friday night.
The Knights also intercepted the Rockets twice and held them to 20 total yards rushing.
The win keeps Northern a game behind first-place Hillside, while Person suffered its first conference loss.
“I am satisfied with the game they put together. They were very resilient until the end,” Northern coach R.J. Wilson said. “We struggled early in the season to put points on the board, but the guys are in-tune with each other now.”
Turning point
Down 14-0 early in the second quarter, Person traveled to the Northern 16, but Knights safety Ankhenaten Martin intercepted a pass to give Northern the ball. The Knights drove 75 yards on just three plays to make it 20-0, and the rout was on.

“No,” Wilson said when asked if he had any complaints about his team’s performance. “Everybody did their part tonight.”
