Orange crushes rival Cedar Ridge football, keeps victory bell
Drew Lemaster rushed for a career-high 124 yards and a touchdown and also scored on a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown as Orange defeated crosstown rival Cedar Ridge 41-6 Friday night at Auman Stadium.
Orange (8-1, 3-1 Big 8) retained the victory bell with its fourth straight victory over the Red Wolves. Bryse Wilson also registered a career-high with 132 yards rushing on 12 carries. Marvante Beasley returned a deflected punt 63 yards for a second quarter touchdown as Orange blew the game open in the second quarter, scoring 27 points.
Panthers quarterback Jackson Schmid opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown with 9 minutes remaining in the first half. He later threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Cody Evans in the fourth quarter.
Shemar Miles scored the lone Cedar Ridge (3-5, 1-2) touchdown with 7:12 remaining, ending a string of 11 consecutive quarters where Orange hadn’t surrendered a point.
Turning point
After a scoreless first quarter, Beasley’s return of the blocked punt gave Orange a 20-0 lead.

“We imploded. For two weeks in a row now, we’ve given up 21 points in the last four minutes of a half. They’re a good football team. They aren’t 41-6 better than us,” Cedar Ridge interim head coach Scott Loosemoore.
