Raleigh Charter beats East Carteret to win the 1A East girls tennis final

Raleigh Charter defeated East Carteret 8-1 in the NCHSAA 1A East girls tennis regional final on Thursday at Lions Park to advance to Sunday’s championship.

The lone East Carteret winner was freshman Jayden Caberra at No. 2 singles (7-5, 6-4).

The Phoenix (14-0) got wins from No. 1 singles Mackenzie DeLoatch (6-2, 6-1), No. 3 Camryn McClure (6-0, 6-0), No. 4 Christina Lee (6-2, 6-4), No. 5 Blair King (6-0, 6-0) and No. 6 Gabby Ledford (7-5, 6-4).

DeLoatch and Logan Furr won their doubles match 8-4, McClure and Emma Rowe won 8-4 and King and Ledford won 8-3.

Raleigh Charter will play in the 1A title match at Elon on Sunday, a change from Saturday at the Burlington Tennis Center.
