N&O All-Metro girls golf team, 2015
Two state champions and two runners-up headline The News & Observer’s All-Metro girls golf team.
Chapel Hill’s Gina Kim owned the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A state championships with a 5-under 139 score after 36 holes. Athens Drive’s Jennifer Chang won her second 4A title.
East Carolina recruit Siranon “Muk” Shoomee, a two-time 3A champ, finished second behind Kim while Wake Forest senior Sam Bennett tied for second just two strokes behind Chang.
Cardinal Gibbons sophomores Riley Smyth and Hailey Freedman finished top-six to help the Crusaders to their second straight state title and first in 4A.
This year’s All-Metro team was sophomore-heavy with Kim, Chang, Smyth and Freedman.
