N&O All-Metro girls tennis team, 2015
Sammi Smith, Jordan Strickland and Susanne Boyden ended their careers with a combined 11 N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A girls tennis championship gold medals.
Panther Creek’s Smith and Strickland became only the second four-time NCHSAA doubles champions this fall. They end their career with four appearances on The News & Observer’s girls tennis team.
The Catamounts, who won their third straight 4A dual-team tennis title, also placed 4A singles runner-up Amanda Cyr on the team.
Wakefield’s Boyden won her third straight singles championship and is making her third appearance on the team. She was a quarterfinalist as a freshman.
The rest of the team is rounded out by doubles teams: Union Pines’ 3A doubles champs Mary Beth Jackson and Hailee Haymore; 4A runners-up Lizzie Galush and Jenna Knors of Cardinal Gibbons; Sanderson’s Sibel Tanik and Sofia Anthony, 4A semifinalists.
