Heritage’s Logan Shytle leads The News & Observer’s All-Metro boys soccer team. Shytle, the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association and Cap-8 Conference player of the year, had 41 goals and 13 assists.

He’s the only two-time All-Metro pick out of the 14 members.

In the final N&O greater Triangle area rankings, N.C. High School Athletic Association 1A champ Franklin Academy earned the No. 1 spot. The Patriots (22-1-2) placed title MVP Nick Hughes (59 goals, 14 assists) on the All-Metro team.

NCHSAA 3A runner-up Lee County, led by All-Metro pick Payton Jackson, finished fourth.

Apex and Cardinal Gibbons, who spent most of the year in the top two spots, ended the year second and third. Both teams had two All-Metro players.

Each team in the top 10 of the final rankings was represented on the All-Metro team.
