Two Rivers 3A all-conference football, boys soccer, volleyball, girls tennis, girls golf and cross country teams, 2015
The Two Rivers 3A Conference has announced its all-conference teams and other awards from the fall season.
Cleveland dominated the football individual awards with four winners: Offensive Player of the Year Patrick Jesequel, Lineman of the Year Zach Jacobs, Special Teams Player of the Year Lawson Lamm and Coach of the Year Scott Riley.
Conference champions in cross country are also the league’s runners of the year. For 2015, those were Jacob Gonzalez of South Johnston and Kayla Ste. Marie of Corinth Holders.
South Johnston’s Emma Blackmon was the volleyball player of the year in a very competitive conference race. Cleveland’s Shelley Johnston took coach of the year honors.
Parker Watson helped Smithfield-Selma to the girls golf conference title and was named the player of the year. South’s Daniel Benson was the coach of the year in girls golf.
Conference champion Cleveland swept most of the boys soccer awards. Lawson Lamm was the offensive MVP and coach Nick Gruhn took home top honors. Corinth Holders’ Alan Landeros was the defensive player of the year.
Megan Dyer was named the girls tennis player of the year after helping lead the Pirates to the conference title. Cleveland’s Emily Purvis was voted the top tennis coach.
The cheerleader of the year was Smithfield-Selma’s Chris Washington.
The league handed out a team sportsmanship award in most sports. Corinth Holders and Western Harnett took two of those awards, while Smthfield-Selma, Cleveland and Triton won one each.
