Conference basketball tournament roundup: Millbrook, Leesville Road girls will play for Cap-8 4A title

Cap-8 4A

Top-seeded Millbrook and No. 3 seed Leesville Road won Wednesday to earn spots in the Cap-8 4A’s girls’ basketball conference championship game. The boys’ will decide their semifinals Thursday.

Semifinal scores: Millbrook girls 67, Wakefield 43; Leesville Road girls 54, Heritage 44.

Thursday: Boys at Broughton – 1-Millbrook vs. 4-Leesville Road 5:30 p.m.; 2-Heritage vs. 3-Broughton, 7 p.m.

Championship times: Friday at Broughton – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

Greater Neuse 4A

The conference is playing its championships Thursday, the only area conference to do so, at Campbell University’s John Pope Convocation Center. They’ll feature top-seeded Southeast Raleigh girls and No. 2 East Wake as well as the No. 1-seeded Garner boys against No. 2 seed Clayton.

Semifinal scores: Southeast Raleigh girls 54, Rolesville 23; East Wake girls 55, Knightdale 47; Garner boys 72, Rolesville 66; Clayton boys 70, Knightdale 60.

Championship times: Thursday at Campbell University – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

PAC-6 4A

The top-seeded Hillside girls ended fifth-seeded Cardinal Gibbons’ season with a 60-40 victory and will face Riverside in Friday’s title game.

Semifinal scores: Hillside girls 60, Cardinal Gibbons 40; Riverside girls 59, East Chapel Hill 41.

Thursday: Boys’ semifinals at Riverside – 1-Riverside vs. 5-Cardinal Gibbons, 6 p.m.; 2-Northern Durham vs. 6-Hillside, 7:30 p.m.

Championship times: Friday at Riverside – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

Southwest Wake 4A

Friday’s basketball titles will feature the old rivalry – top-seeded Cary and No. 2 seed Apex boys – and the new one – No. 2 Green Hope and fourth seed Panther Creek girls. Panther Creek is making its first appearance in the girls’ title; Cary is trying to move to 27-0.

Semifinal scores: Green Hope girls 62, Apex 33; Panther Creek girls 44, Holly Springs 35; Apex boys 80, Holly Springs 66; Cary boys 72, Panther Creek 50.

Championship times: Friday at Panther Creek – girls 6 p.m., boys 8 p.m.

Big 8 3A

Co-girls’ champs Northwood and Chapel Hill will play for a No. 1 seed in the playoffs in Friday’s championship. The boys’ bracket had no upsets, with No. 1 seed Southern Durham and No. 2 Orange going for the title.

Semifinal scores: Northwood girls 51, Southern Durham 43; Orange boys 76, Cedar Ridge 62; Southern Durham boys 83, Northern Vance 54.

Championship times: Friday at Chapel Hill – girls 5:30 p.m., boys 7 p.m.

Two Rivers 3A

After a three-way tie for the regular-season title, No. 2 seed Smithfield-Selma and No. 1 seed Corinth Holders will play for the boys’ title Friday. The winner gets the league’s No. 1 seed going into the postseason and the loser takes the second seed.

Semifinal scores: Corinth Holders boys 47, Cleveland 46; Smithfield-Selma boys 58, Triton 48.

Thursday: 4-Corinth Holders girls at 1-Cleveland; 3-South Johnston girls at 2-Triton.

Championship times: Friday at Corinth Holders – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

Northern Carolina 2A

Bunn will host No. 3 seed Warren County in the girls’ basketball final Friday.

Semifinal scores: Warren County girls 77, Roanoke Rapids 60; Bunn girls 57, South Granville 33.

Thursday: Boys semifinals at Franklinton – 2-Southern Vance vs. 3-South Granville, 6 p.m.; 1-Franklinton vs. 5-Bunn, 7:30 p.m.

Championship times: Friday at Bunn – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

North Central Athletic 1A

Wake Forest’s Franklin Academy will face the Roxboro Community girls in Friday’s title game, and Durham’s Voyager Academy will play Roxboro Community in the boys’ championship.

Semifinal scores: Franklin Academy girls 55, Raleigh Charter 25; Roxboro Community girls 63, River Mill Academy 44; Voyager Academy boys 84, Kestrel Heights 64; Roxboro Community boys 60, River Mill Academy 53.

Championship times: Friday at River Mill Academy – girls 6 p.m., boys 7:30 p.m.

Other

Louisburg’s boys, the No. 2 seed in the Tar-Roanoke 1A, will play No. 3 seed Southeast Halifax in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Weldon.

Southern Lee’s boys earned a spot in the Cape Fear Valley 3A tournament title Friday at Fayetteville Terry Sanford. Southern Lee, the No. 2 seed, defeated third-seeded Westover 49-43.

On Thursday, the No. 2 seed Union Pines girls will play No. 3 seed Lee County at Terry Sanford at 6 p.m.

In the Eastern Plains 2A, North Johnston defeated SouthWest Edgecombe 43-37 to advance to Friday’s title game.

NCISAA playoffs

The Neuse Christian girls and Crossroads Christian, Neuse Christian, Cape Fear Christian boys are in action in the NCISAA 1A playoffs at Cary Academy on Thursday.

In the 2A playoffs, the Cary Christian girls and St. David’s boys will play at North Raleigh Christian.

Ravenscroft’s girls and boys will be on their home court in the 3A playoffs.
