Southwest Wake Athletic all-conference girls lacrosse team, 2016

After going undefeated in Southwest Wake Athletic Conference play – again – Apex dominated the Southwest Wake Athletic all-conference girls lacrosse selections with five players going first team and another two going on the second team.

As voted on by all coaches in the conference, the Cougars also boasted player of the year in junior Graci Fulkerson (72 goals, 34 assists). Middle Creek’s Rosemarie Piccirillo and Pinecrest’s Cameron Vestermark were vote co-coaches of the year.

Kristen Maselli (71 goals, 32 assists), Tess Meurling (38 goals, 35 assists) and Ellie Bromley (46 goals, 19 assists) joined Fulkerson as Apex (15-2, 7-0) players to make the first team. Emily Beckman (31 goals, 31 assists) and goalkeeper Carrie Studdard made the second team.

Middle Creek (14-2, 6-1) placed Maddy Boudreau (41 goals, 28 assists) on the first team and Haley Whitfield, Maddy Dahlgren and Cailin Cardillo (31 goals, 10 assists) made the second team.

Green Hope (9-6, 4-3) didn’t have any players on the first team, but Alicia Brunetti (46 goals, 38 assists), Rachel Argabright (27 goals, 11 assists), Allie Winiecki (26 goals, 9 assists) and Maddie McKinley (18 goals, 11 assists) all made the second team.

Pinecrest (9-7, 4-3) placed Katie Thomas on the first team and Jennifer Woods on the second team.

In its inaugural year, Apex Friendship (5-6, 2-5) had Grace Fleming (32 goals, 7 assists) and Isabella Herrera (34 goals, 5 assists) on the first team.

Panther Creek (3-10, 2-5) saw two underclassmen make the first team in Claire Reist (15 goals, 6 assists) and Abbie Pagano (28 goals, 1 assist).

Holly Springs (7-8, 2-5) put Samantha Volz on the first team.

Athens Drive (1-9, 1-6) placed Erin Kenedy on the second team.
