N&O All-Metro girls lacrosse team and final top 10 rankings, 2016
N.C. High School Athletic Association state champion Cardinal Gibbons ends the year No. 1 in The News & Observer top 10 area rankings for the second straight year.
The Crusaders, who have ended the year in the top 3 in five straight years, also placed a record four players on the All-Metro team: attacker Jordan Lappin, title game MVP Erica Skowron, defender Sydney Anderson and goalie Gabby Young.
Wakefield, which finished No. 2 in the final rankings for the first time, placed two players – Megan Blawas and Jessica Lynch – and Broughton, No. 3 for the first time, placed Farrell Guest.
Seven players earned their second appearance on the All-Metro team: Guest, Lappin, Skowron, Blawas, Lynch, East Chapel Hill’s Lena Johnson, Chapel Hill’s Paige Haskins.
