North Carolina’s Zack Gahagen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10 inning Saturday night to score the winning run as No. 22 UNC defeated N.C. State 3-2 at Boshamer Stadium.
The Tar Heels’ Skye Bolt scored the winning run from third and Trevor Kelley relieved J.B. Bukauskas to pick up his third win of the year.
Kelley worked three and 2/3 hitless innings after coming in with one out in the seventh.
Logan Ratledge gave NC State (19-14, 7-9 ACC) a 1-0 lead in the fourth with a homer off Bukauskas. Carolina (22-13, 9-8 ACC) tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the fourth.

Shane Shepard homered in the top half of the fifth before Bolt singled home a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-2.
Wolfpack starter Brian Brown worked five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Curt Britt relieved him, and held the Heels to one hit and one walk with a strikeout in three innings. Tommy DeJuneas (1-2) pitched an inning-plus, escaping a two-on, nobody out jam in the ninth, before getting the loss in the 10th.
