Myrtle Beach pitchers blank Mudcats 5-0
Paul Blackburn and three relievers combined on a five-hitter Monday night as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans blanked the Carolina Mudcats 5-0.
Myrtle Beach (49-39) led 2-0 after the first inning, 3-0 after the third and added runs the fifth and sixth. Seth Webster (4-6) left after 52/3 innings having given up five earned runs on 10 hits.
Jacob Rogers was 3-for-4 with three RBIs against Webster.
The Mudcats were held without a hit with runners in scoring position and left Connor Lien at third in the first inning. Lien was 1-for-3 and picked up his team-best 21st stolen base. Carolina stranded four men on base and finished 1-for-20 with runners in scoring position during the four-game series.
The Mudcats will be back in action Wednesday at home against the Winston-Salem Dash.
