Mudcats get Lucas Sims first win since May 9
Connor Lien doubled, singled and scored twice, Dustin Peterson drove in two runs with two hits and Lucas Sims struck out eight over six innings as the Caroina Mudcats defeated the Winston-Salem Dash 4-2 at Five County Stadium on Thursday night.
Carolina had four hits with runners in scoring position and turned three double plays.
Sims set a season high in strikeouts to earn his first win since May 9.
Lien scored the first run of the game in the first after legging out a double to left. He then stole third and scored on a single to right by Peterson.
Peterson, whohad been 1-for-20 over the past five games, made it 2-0 in the third when he singled to score Johan Camargo, who reach on a single and stole second.
The Dash made it 2-1 in the sixth, but Carolina responded with two of their own in the bottom half when Franco doubled in Lien, who scored one batter later on a single by Joey Meneses.
Nolan Earley scored Winston-Salem’s final run on an groundout in the eighth.
