Mudcats 6, Blue Rocks 0
WILMINGTON, Del. After surrendering a leadoff double, Andrew Thurman recorded 21 consecutive outs to cap his best start of the season, leading the Carolina Mudcats to a 6-0 win against the Wilmington Blue Rocks on Sunday.
Thurman went seven innings and struck out seven as the Mudcats won their sixth straight game.
Jacob Schrader led the offense, collecting three hits and scoring three times. Joey Meneses was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs in the road victory.
Wilmington starter Pedro Fernandez allowed five runs, four earned, in the second and third innings. He left after the fourth with four strikeouts and the score 5-0.
The Mudcats are off Monday before starting a three-game series at Five County Stadium against Winston-Salem.
