Winston-Salem Dash duo shuts down Carolina Mudcats
Strong pitching from Carson Fulmer and Brian Clark vaulted the Winston-Salem Dash past the Carolina Mudcats on 4-2 Tuesday at Five County Stadium.
After Fulmer went three innings, allowing one run with three strikeouts, Clark shut down the Mudcats to end their six-game winning streak. Clark surrendered one unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts over the final six innings.
Adam Engel led off the game against Carolina’s Keith Curcio by drilling a homer off the left-field foul pole. Jake Peter doubled two batters later and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Keon Barnum.
Keith Curcio tripled to start the bottom half and scored on a wild pitch to cut the Winston lead to 2-1.
The Dash added two runs on RBI singles by Peter and Eddy Alvarez in the fourth to make it 4-1.
Carolina’s Connor Lien scored on a passed ball in the sixth to make it 4-2.
