Norfolk Tides’ Tyler Wilson is No. 9 in Orioles organization

Tyler Wilson, pitcher, Norfolk Tides

(at Durham Wednesday-Thursday)

Wilson is the No. 9-rated minor league player in the Orioles organization, according to MLB.com, and has performed as such throughout 2015. Though he has bounced around between Norfolk and Baltimore – where he threw 7.2 innings of one-run baseball on Aug. 3 – on three separate occasions, Wilson has pitched effectively in both arenas. He has a 2.19 ERA in six games and two starts with Baltimore in 2015 and a 3.05 ERA with an impressive 1.16 WHIP in 91.1 innings with Norfolk this season. The 25-year-old right-hander projects as a back-end starter, according to MLB.com, with a mid-90s fastball. If the rotation holds, his turn to pitch will be on Wednesday in Durham, though the Bulls have tagged him for six earned runs in two starts this season.
