Carolina Mudcats score 2 in the 10th to beat Wilmington Blue Rocks

The Carolina Mudcats (60-56) came out of the 10th inning tiebreaker with a 4-3 win against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (53-63) Thursday night.

The Mudcats scored in the first inning of the game with a homer by Keith Curcio as the first play and Jacob Schrader scoring a run as well.

Carolina struggled to score again. Wilmington had hits in the fourth and seventh inning by Mauricio Ramos and Carlos Garcia.

Neither team could get to home plate to break the tie, which forced the game to the 10th. Joey Meneses and Carlos Franco were waiting on second and third base for Tanner Krietemeier’s double, which brought them home.

Wilmington had a close call with a run by Dominque Taylor but couldn’t get any other players home.

Brad Roney (2-0) pitched the final inning and had no runs. Yender Caramo (4-7) pitched four innings and allowed the two runs that broke the tie.

Carolina will play at Frederick Keys in Maryland at 7 p.m. Friday.
