Mudcats beat Red Sox 13-6
With two high-scoring innings, the Salem Red Sox were no match for the Carolina Mudcats who took the 13-6 win Wednesday night.
Keith Curcio started the scoring for the home team by stealing home. Dustin Peterson later scored with a hit by Joseph Odom.
The Red Sox started the second with a run to make the game 2-1. The Mudcats returned with a Johan Carmargo’s run and Peterson’s homer with the bases loaded. After a scoreless third, Carolina started up again with two runs.
Salem attempted to get back into the 9-1 game with two innings that improved their score to 9-5. The seventh, though, was no match for the away team when the Mudcats got four men to home plate to make the game 13-5. With one final run in the eighth by the Red Sox, the Mudcats got the 13-6 win.
Yean Carlos Gil (2-9) picked up a win for Carolina with allowing five runs and had two strikeouts. Ty Buttrey (7-8) allowed nine runs and hits for Salem.
The Carolina Mudcats will try to attempt to shutout the Salem Red Sox Thursday at 7 p.m.
