Carolina Mudcats hold Salem Red Sox to 3 hits in 5-2 win

The Carolina Mudcats held the Salem Red Sox to just two runs on three hits Friday night to take Game 2 two of a four-game series.

Ryan Lawlor earned a no-decision in his first Mudcats start. He pitched four innings, allowing just one run, walking three, and striking out four.

Carolina (1-1) struck first, scoring four of its five runs during the fourth inning.

With the bases loaded, Joseph Daris singled to bring in Braxton Davidson and Joey Meneses.

Keith Curcio then tripled, scoring Daris. Curcio would score after a throwing error by Red Sox second baseman Yoan Moncada.

Zack Bird earned the victory by picthing 1 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run. Sean McLaughlin and Chase Johnson-Mullins combined for 3 1/3 hitless innings.
