Mudcats Snap Six Game Losing Streak, Defeat Pelicans 6-3
After a tough loss Thursday night, the Carolina Mudcats (7-9) rebounded Friday night snapping a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (8-8).
The Mudcats struck first against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, scoring two runs in the first inning after back to back doubles from Jordan Edgerton and Braxton Davidson.
The Pelicans would tie the game at two in the bottom half of the inning, but the Mudcats would later regain the lead in the second inning. After Stephen Gaylor stole third base and Keith Curcio stole second base to pull off the double steal, Omar Obregon hit a bases-clearing double to make it 4-2.
The Pelicans would again respond, scoring a run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to one. But the Mudcats would later extend their lead with a run in the seventh inning after a passed ball moved Daris to third and a balk brought him home.
Carolina would add one more after Braxton Davison hit a solo home run to left center field, his first of the season. Davidson was 2-for-4, with a double, home run and two RBIs in Friday’s contest.
The game would be later be delayed because of rain before being called after eight innings.
RHP Enderson Franco (1-1) got the start Friday night. He would go on to earn the win after allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings.
