Edgerton and Povse lead the way in 3-1 Carolina victory
Jordan Edgerton ripped a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth and Max Povse struck out a career high 10 batters over five innings as the Mudcats defeated the Frederick Keys 3-1 in front of a crowd of 4,674 at Five County Stadium on Friday night.
Povse allowed just one run to the visiting Keys (23-24). He left before the Mudcats (19-27) took the lead with a 3-run sixth, and did not earn a decision. Povse scattered six hits, walked two and threw 88 pitches with 56 for strikes on Friday night.
The Mudcats scored all three of their runs in the sixth and came back from 1-0 deficit to take game one of the four game series. Edgerton both tied the game and drove in the go-ahead with a bases loaded RBI double in the sixth. Braxton Davidson followed with a RBI sacrifice fly to left and the Mudcats led 3-1 after six.
