Winston-Salem’s Thad Lowry allowed just one run on seven hits over seven innings pitched while leading the Dash to a 3-2 win against the Mudcats on Thursday night at Five County Stadium. Ryan Clark started for Carolina and suffered his league high seventh loss after allowing only three runs and four hits over six innings.

Clark (0-7, 5.85) gave up a home run in the first to Gerson Montilla and a RBI double to Keon Barnum in the fourth. He allowed just four hits and three runs over six innings, but fell to a league worst 0-7 on the season.

Montilla was 2-for-3 in the game with a home run, a triple, one RBI and two runs scored. Barnum was 2-for-4 with a RBI and had the only hit with a runner in scoring position for the Dash in the road victory. Winston-Salem was 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left only three men on base. They led 1-0 after the 3-0 after scoring twice in the fourth.

The Mudcats (23-34) were held without a hit over 14 at-bats with runners in scoring position and stranded seven men on base on Thursday. They collected nine hits in all and had multi-hit games from Joey Meneses, Braxton Davidson and Joseph Daris in the series opening loss.

The Mudcats scored their first run of the game in the fifth after Daris doubled and scored on a RBI groundout by Keith Curcio. The run cut the Winston-Salem lead to 3-1 and the Mudcats made it a one run game with a RBI groundout from Davidson in the eighth.
