3-run homer dooms Mudcats in 10
Connor Bierfeldt smacked a game-winning, three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th Wednesday night as the Frederick Keys beat the Carolina Mudcats 6-3 at Harry Grove Stadium.
With the score tied in the bottom of the 10th, a single by Wynston Sawyer and an error by Carolina third baseman Jordan Edgerton put two on with two out for the Keys (40-36). Sean McLaughlin replaced reliever Taylor Lewis (0-1, 0.00 ERA) for the Mudcats (31-46), and Bierfeldt promptly smacked his 10th homer of the season to end the game.
Tanner Chleborad (3-2, 3.49 ERA) pitched a scoreless 10th to notch the win.
