Fedde, Mejia carry Potomac to 5-1 win over Carolina
Bryan Mejia had three hits and scored two runs, and Erick Fedde allowed just three hits over six innings as the Potomac Nationals defeated the Carolina Mudcats 5-1 on Friday.
Fedde (5-3) picked up the win after he struck out eight and walked one while allowing one run.
Potomac started the scoring in the first inning. After reaching base on a walk, Victor Robles stole second and then scored on a triple by Jose Marmolejos.
After Potomac added a run in the second when Robles got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Alec Keller, the Mudcats cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Braxton Davidson hit a solo home run.
The Nationals later added a run in the sixth and two in the eighth. In the sixth, Max Schrock hit an RBI single, while Robles and Schrock both drove in a run in the eighth.
Enderson Franco (5-6) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and five hits while walking four in the Carolina League game. Justin Thomas pitched two scoreless innings for his third save of the season.
