Wednesday rains force Mudcats to suspend game after 2 innings

Wednesday’s game between the Carolina Mudcats and Lynchburg Hillcats was suspended after the second inning because of wet grounds at Five County Stadium. The game will resume at 5 p.m. Thursday before the regularly scheduled contest.

Game 1 of the doubleheader will begin in the third inning and will be played through its entirety. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the first and will be seven innings.

Wednesday’s score was 0-0 when heavy rain stopped play. Ryan Clark started for Carolina and had three strikeouts. Justus Sheffield started for the Hillcats and finished with two walks, one hit and one strikeout.

Enderson Franco (5-6, 4.47 ERA) will pitch in place of Clark when Game 1 resumes. The starter for Game 2 will be announced Thursday.
