Varona’s single leads Durham over Rochester in 10 innings

-- Dayron Varona hit an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Durham Bullsto a 7-6 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday.

Casey Gillaspie scored the go-ahead run on the single after he reached base on a walk, advanced to second on a single by Richie Shaffer and then went to third on a single by Varona.

The Red Wings tied the game 6-6 in the eighth when Jorge Polanco hit a three-run home run as part of a five-run inning.

Durham starter Eddie Gamboa went six innings, allowing one run and three hits. Casey Coleman (1-1) got the win with 1  2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
