Shaffer's single leads Durham to 9-1 win over Louisville
Richie Shaffer hit a run-scoring single in the third inning, leading the Durham Bulls to a 9-1 win over the Louisville Bats on Friday.
The single by Shaffer scored Taylor Motter to give the Bulls a 2-1 lead.
The Bulls later added five runs in the fourth and two in the sixth to punctuate the blowout.
Durham right-hander Austin Pruitt (8-6) picked up the win after allowing one run on five hits over six innings. Opposing starter Robert Stephenson (6-7) took the loss after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and four hits over 3 2/3 innings.
