Hale leads Norfolk to 3-0 win over Durham

David Hale allowed just four hits over 6 2/3 innings, leading the Norfolk Tides over the Durham Bulls in a 3-0 win on Monday.

Hale (2-6) picked up the win after he struck out three and walked two.

All three runs came in the third inning. Norfolk got on the board first when Michael Almanzar hit a solo home run. The Tides added to their lead when Ozzie Martinez hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Christian Walker.

Justin Marks (4-10) went seven innings, allowing three runs and five hits in the International League game. He also struck out five and walked one. Jason Stoffel recorded his ninth save of the season.

Durham missed a scoring opportunity in the seventh, when Johnny Field struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

The Bulls were held scoreless for the 14th time this season, while the Tides’ staff recorded their 10th shutout of the year.
