Ray, Miller lead Wilmington to 9-1 win over Carolina
Anderson Miller had two hits and three RBI, and Corey Ray allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings as the Wilmington Blue Rocks beat the Carolina Mudcats 9-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Ray (8-6) allowed one run while striking out eight and walking one to get the win.
Wilmington started the scoring in the first inning when Miller hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Luis Villegas.
The Blue Rocks punctuated the blowout with three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh. In the sixth, Brandon Downes hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Carlos Diaz, while Robert Pehl hit a two-run double in the seventh.
Wes Parsons (0-2) went 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs and nine hits in the Carolina League game. He also struck out three and walked three.
The seven extra-base hits for Wilmington included a season-high seven doubles
