Former Campbell, Millbrook player Chris Clemons inks 3-year deal with NBA’s Rockets
Former Millbrook High School and Campbell University player Chris Clemons has signed a three-year contract with the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Clemons was the NCAA’s leading scorer last season at 30.1 points per game. He is the third-highest scorer in Division I basketball history.
Yet, primarily because of his height — Clemons is just 5-foot-9 — Clemons was not selected in June’s NBA Draft. He signed a free agent, two-way contract with the Rockets shortly after the draft. That type of deal mainly relegates a player to the D League, but allows for 45 days of time in the NBA. Clemons had nearly exhausted that allotment, forcing the Rockets to make the long-term deal.
Clemons has played in 20 games with the Rockets this season, averaging 4.8 points per game.
