A Triangle team plays in a Pop Warner Super Bowl this weekend, and you can watch on TV

A Pop Warner football team from Raleigh will play for a Super Bowl title on national television this weekend.

The North Raleigh Bulldogs are set to take on the North Philly Aztecs in the Division I Junior Varsity championship game at Disney World’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The game will air Saturday at 10 a.m. on ESPNU.

Pop Warner’s JV level is for players ages 10-12, and for 13-year-olds who fall into a lighter weight class.

The Bulldogs inched past the Menlo-Atherton Vikings of Menlo Park, Calif., 16-14, on Sunday and shut out the Dorchester Eagles from Dorchester, Mass., 25-0, Wednesday to reach Saturday’s main event.

Several other North Carolina teams made it to national championship week.

A Cleveland Rams team from Clayton bowed out in a Thursday semifinal loss to the Ocoee (Fla.) Bulldogs in the Unlimited Division.

The Union Road Jaguars out of Gastonia also reached a semifinal in the Division II Pee Wee bracket and came up short to the Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Gators.

The Wake County Cowboys from Apex (1-1) and another Cleveland Rams team from Clayton (0-2) also competed in Division III Junior Pee Wee and Pee Wee games, respectively.

The last team from North Carolina to win a Pop Warner Super Bowl was another North Raleigh Bulldogs team, which claimed the Division II Junior Midget title in 2011, according to the youth organization.
