Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper is still the richest man in the NFL
You probably knew that Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was a rich man.
Now, we know exactly how Tepper, 62, stacks up with the richest people in the country. Forbes magazine released its annual ranking of the 400 richest Americans. To make the cut, you have to be worth at least $2.1 billion.
Tepper is ranked No. 41 on the Forbes list with a net worth of $13 billion, putting him ahead of notables like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones (No. 56, $8.6B), entertainment mogul David Geffen (No. 65, $8.1B) and broker Charles Schwab (No. 85, $6.9B).
Forbes calls Tepper, who bought the Panthers in 2018 for $2.3 billion, “arguably the greatest hedge fund manager of his generation.” He’s the richest owner in the NFL.
According to Forbes, America’s 400 richest people have a net worth of $3.2 trillion, which is up $240 billion over the past year.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was No. 1 with a net worth of $179 billion, followed by software giants Bill Gates ($111B) and Mark Zuckerberg ($85B). Bezos has been No. 1 for three years running.
Oprah Winfrey is No. 327 at $2.6 billion. President Donald Trump is No. 339 at $2.5 billion.
